The Difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK Guys are horn dogs….  THat has always been the case.  They are always talking about how hot a girl is regardless of age most the time.  Gregg having been in the radio business many, many, many (sorry hun) years there is always talk of who is hot and such.  I have always been appalled at older men oogling the much younger crowd.  Shoot, half the crowd I don’t even know.  Who the hell is Lauren Conrad and why should I care?  There are many others out there and perhaps I am showing my age by not knowing or caring who they are.  Back in the day you were someone if you had a talent and acted.  Then you would get your fame.  For all I know these people are on shows but if they are I don’t know what shows they are on.  I digress.  So as I was saying.  THe radio guys would always comment on younger girls and say things like, “hey they are legal.”  I found it disgusting.  THey were still children.  WE were in our upper 30’s then some in their 50’s(now we are in the 40’s lol) saying things about the 20 somethings.  Well I have to eat some crow now and be grossly disgusted with myself as I see myself for once joining them in the reverie!

Miss Sarah dropped off an US Weekly magazine to me today and I couldn’t help but see this one shot of a very cute and sexy looking young man.  My tastes for Hollywood celebreties run really only two ways, Johnny Depp and Matthew McConaughey(as long as he doesn’t speak, damn he is a hot piece of UT!).  Today I flipped to a page with really no description and thought damn that guy looks fine and then when I turned the page I wanted to PUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was looking at a KID who hadn’t even turned 21 yet(tomorrow he will).  OMG. I started laughing at the irony and the sickness of it all.  HIs brooding pic kind of caught me off guard as It looked a lot like a Jared Leto pose(thought he was cute but too young in the day, yea he was 4 years younger than me).  The only thing I do have to say is that if he keeps pics up like that one then I’m sure he will free himself of the Disney pop curse.

OK enough Disney, 21 Jump Street, and My So Called Life Talk.  I have to take a shower!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh by the way it was Zac Efron.  This wasn’t the pic I was referring to but not bad.

I got it, I got it,…NO really I GOT IT……………

OK before I start this post I have to send birthday wishes to Sarah(we won’t say your age) and Gavin, happy first birthday!!!!!!!!

Tonight Cooper did something he has always done, take care of himself!  Cooper is MR. independent.  His style is different from Noah’s.  Noah was always Mr. independent in the sense that he would amuse himself.  He would always play quietly by himself when he was little.  He always found something fun to do.  Cooper is more independent in that he takes care of himself and doesn’t like to ask for help.  It in a sense makes me feel guilty like he doesn’t think I would help him.  But that is not it.

Tonight he got out of bed and came downstairs for a late night snack.  I had all the lights out and was watching TV.  He took his apple and proceeded to get a blanket for himself.  He ate his apple then began to make a cozy spot on the couch.  He had to fight to unfold the big blanket.  I watched as he tried to spread it out first on the couch then try to unfold it more to fully cover the couch.  At this point Noah would have been screaming that he couldn’t unfold it right.  Cooper just kept at it until he had it right.  Once he had unfolded the blanket just right on the couch he climbed up and got the pillows just right and snuggled down.  It’s funny to see him have the patience to do such a thing…espcially this late at night.

He likes to get his own food too.  That is a bit of a problem as once he tried to peel his own apple with a knife.  Yep had to move those out of the way.  I wish he would just ask for my help.  I’ve always told him Iwould get him all the fruit he wants.  We have had to have a moratorium on the peaches.  That kid is a Peach FREAK.  We sing that silly song by the Presidents of the United States song all the time(Peaches).

Time to put that silly boy to bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh What A Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight we were invited to a great party.  We were a bit hesitant.  We had received a letter from the Austin Chronicle announcing we had won a “best of Austin” award.  The invitation said we had won an award and that we should arrive at the Long Center for the Performing Arts to accept it.  It didn’t say what we won, so we had to go to find out.  There was no description on the invitation.  We didn’t know how to dress or anything.  The Austin Chronicle is like the Metro Times in Detroit so I assumed casual was they way to go and I was not wrong.  Everyone was there.  oh my the way everyone was dresed>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The mayor was there taking his picture with Uno(spelling).  THat is Gregg’s love…the Westminister Dog best in show winner(he uses Paul MItchel products as said by the winner(as a joke)).  The first ever Beagle.  I finally did pet him and he was so soft for a beagle.  Aside from that it was not a big sell for advertising like Gregg feared.  We got our certificate and then we were ushered into a free drinks and food party.  We met and partied with lots of different people….best pastries, best DJ, Best bumper fixer and best actress/actor.  It was great we even got great contacts for NOah if he wants to go into acting(big ham).  It was definitely a who knows who type of crowd.

It was especially fun since we won a critic’s choice award for best kid friendly coffee house.  Not bad for only having been in business for almost 3 months.  I asked how we were nominated and apparently a writer for the news or some one in higher authority visited us and presented our name and category and the rest of the panel had to agree.  This is great news and hits the presses in the next week.  They say this will be great recognition.  I have no doubt since we have been getting lots of pass holders from the Austin area in the last week alone.

ONe strange thing was………….When we were in line for a drink this girl was behind us.  She was petite had many tatoos and had a dress with combat boots on…I had to do a double take.  I turned to Gregg real quick and said…Oh MY GOD..who does she look like.  It was like a mini Sabrina standing before us.  We talked to her for a while and I couldn’t believe how much she reminded me of her aside from the fact that she didn’t know hockey.  Oh how we still love the thought of Sabrina, she never could be replaced just remembered more fondly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just basking in the afterglow. Oh and Gregg met a Bob Talbert type alter here, John Kelso.  Gregg loved his quote hat his 401 K is now a 201K and if you hated him he is never going away because he can’t retire.  In person he didn’t think it was as funny.  The market sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO Much to say

Well I guess we will start with the sad news………..My grandpa Aldo has been given 4-6 months to live.  They just found out he has cancer and apparently it has spread.  My mom is in Missouri now visiting him.  We wish we could be there and send our very best to everyone.  The last time Noah and I visited I was pregnant with Cooper and surprised him on his 80th birthday.

Noah is a budding artist.  He LOVES to color.  His pictures have such great detail.  It’s funny to see how far he has come.  Cooper has been drawing too.  He loves to draw Bevos.  HIs favorite color is orange.  He is such a TExas freak it is wigging us out.  He has lived in Texas longer than anywhere else so I guess it makes sense.

Last weekend we had another fun Sunday.  Again we hit the Original Pancake House and the kids devoured the pancakes.  Noah loves going dowtown.  After we eat he always asks if we are going dowtown.  This time we went to Zilker Park Botanical Garden for the Dinoland exhibit.  The boys had a blast.  We did dino digs, dino bingo, planted a fern, and toured the dinosaurs.  I wasn’t feeling well so we made it a short day and headed home to watch football.

I have been out of commission for the last few days.  Gregg got a crash course in the day time operations of the JJ.  It was nice having the time off.  While I recuperated I also spent time cleaning and straightening up the house.  WE have now hired a house clenaer but before she comes I have to get the house in order.  I know it sounds odd but things needed to be thrown out and cleaned up.  THe boys and I gave away 3 bags of toys and threw away one bag.  The upstairs room is still full of toys.

We finally got rain here.  Gosh I can’t even remember the last time it rained.  The pressure headache is enough for me to never wish rain again.

I have got to say I am bummed out by Heroes.  I was going to post something after last week’s episode but waited.  Last night’s was better but still not feeling it.

My sis Susan is 11 weeks along in her pregnancy and everything looks great!  Good News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Play Date

Cooper had his first play date today.  He met his friend Caden at Jungle Java and they ate and played all morning.  He has been so jealous of Noah’s play dates that it was nice for him to have one of his own.    I didn’t have a camera but I will next time.

Today was our neighborhood block party.  The boys had so much fun playing with all the kiddos.  A great time was had by all.  Thank you for the hotdogs and icy treats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Now the boys are finally cleaned up and off to never never land!

Grandpa Aldo got horrible news this week.  He has cancer and it is in stage 4.  This was quite sudden and we hope that he is doing well and gets out of the hospital ASAP so that he can do all he wants to do!!!!!!!!!
We LOVE you and are thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Steve

OK we spared you the confetti.  Or I should say I did.  Gregg wanted payback!  I hope you and your family celebrated nicely.  Expect your presents Friday night when we get to celebrate with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had another nice weekend.  We had our second family fun day on Sunday.  We hit the Original Pancake house.  My kids eat like crazy there.  Noah ate 5 chicken nuggets before we left and ate 3 buttermilk pancakes when we got there.  Then we went for a nice ride to south Austin and look at the neighborhood Travis Heights.  When we roginally moved here the concierge at the hotel tried to convince us to move there.  So we went to see what it was like.  It was very cute.  It reminded me of a mixture of Royal Oak Craftsman type homes with the Ann Arbor(green living) feel and the colors of Key West.  Very cute.  We stopped in a neighborhood park and talked with the locals while the kids played.  It reminded me so much of Michigan.  The odd thing is for how much it cost to live plus the high taxes they pay it is like living in Birmingham/GP and having Detroit schools.  Everyone pays high taxes and sends their kids to private schools or specialty schools.  It was cute, out of our price range and seemed hardly worth it.  We luckily avoided the candy store again even though Cooper picked it out amongst the many colorful storefronts.  Then we went home and I attended Jamie’s baby shower.  She received many nice gifts for Keegan.  Congrats again.  It won’t be long now.

Now we are off to another great week.  Noah had a play date last week with a fellow kindergartner and now Cooper has a play date with one of his classmates.  It is so cute seeing them get so excited about their play dates.

OMG I don’t know if I ever mentioned about getting my eyebrows done when I had my hair cut.  I know it’s not that exciting to write or read about.  BUT I had them threaded.  I didn’t know what that meant but I figured since my hair is so short I should do it.  I mentioned many time that I was a complete wuss when it came to waxing.  I didn’t know what I was in store for.  She pulled out this piece of floss thing and i thought ……OK.  I still don’t know what she did with that thread but my palms were sweating and I was in serious pain.  I guess it is good because people tell me I won’t have to do it for a while since it pulls out the roots but it was a much longer and slower process than the painful wax.  Again I am a wuss so I don’t think I will be doing that again.  There is a nail salon here now that has those fishy things.  You know the fish that eat your dead skin away as a pedicure.  GROSS!!!!!!!  Perhaps it is a Michigan thing.  But I always feared and hated when the fish in the lake would nibble on a freckle.  THe thought of paying $75 or whatever it is to have fish do that to you on purpose grosses me out.  I know I would squeal and wiggle and probably step and kill many fish.  I’m staying out of that pond!

Well tme for bed and Heroes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
