Congratulations Austin
Austin was named one of the best places for young kids, best place to make a movie and best city for jobs in 2008.
If you can get out of Detroit you can get a job here and the cost of living is ridiculously cheap. Austin is considered expensive compared to the rest of the state but it is still inexpensive compared to Detroit.
Here is an example from Austin. My search included a house between 100-200K, less than 10 years old, Min 1500 sq. ft., and has a community swimming pool.
Same search in Plano, the Birmingham of Dallas. or Denton which is just outside Ft. Worth.
Not to shoot you done, but is this list for real? Detroit made it in the top 100 cities for finding a job? Warren, Michigan too? Wow, I could think of cities in Michigan more promising then those two. Ann Arbor?
Gotta say, houses prices here are also falling into these ranges now too. You can buy a very nice, newer home in Washtenaw county for $150K today. At least $100k less then 5 years ago.
I guess that is the one positive point of the hard times in Michigan today. Unless you are trying to sell!
Yea, If you are young and have a nice job it would be a great time to buy a house in Detroit. You could probably get a great deal on a home in Royal Oak.
Detroit was actually number 100 and wasn’t Warren in the 80’s? I wonder if the warren thing is the GM tech center? But Detroit? Teachers needed?
